パプアニューギニアより活動の様子が届きました。

昨年建設・オープンした「お産を待つ家」の運営状況を確認するため、建設場所であるYango Health CenterとKepelam Health Centerを尋ねました。
Health Center の職員の方々やHANDSが研修したVHA（村落保健アシスタント）がこまめに草刈りや掃除をしてくださっているようで、とても綺麗に使ってくださっているのがわかりました。
Kepelam Health Centerでは8月からHealth Centerを訪れた48人の妊婦さんのうち、近くの村から訪れた36人の妊婦さんがお産を待つ家で宿泊し、無事出産を終えたそうです。
今後はより詳細な運営方法を現地の保健局と話し合いながら設定し、より遠方の村から妊婦さんにも利用していただけるように広報活動にも力を入れていきたいと考えています。

【Recent Updates on the “Maternity Waiting House” Constructed and Opened Last Year】
We visited Yango Health Center and Kepelam Health Center to see how the Maternity Waiting Houses has been used since they opened last year.
The facilities are very clean and well-kept. Health Center staff and the VHAs (Village Health Assistants) trained by HANDS are working hard to clean the area.
At Kepelam Health Center, 48 pregnant women visited the center since August. Among them, 36 women from nearby villages stayed at the Maternity Waiting House and gave birth safely.
We will talk with the Enga PHA to make better rules for the facility. We also want more women from far-away villages to use this house, so we will work harder on our PR activities.
HANDS will continue to work together with the local people.
