HANDSパプアニューギニアでは分娩施設まで歩いて何時間もかかる地域に住む妊婦さんたちが、安全に出産ができて、出産後の赤ちゃんのケアができる体制づくりを目指しています。その中の取り組みの一つである、【保健医療施設から遠い地域に住む妊婦さんたちのための「お産を待つ家」の建設】がKepelam Health Centerではじまりました。
住民の皆さんが、自分たちの手で「お産を待つ家」を建てていく様子をご紹介します。
妊婦さんが滞在する部屋（３部屋）がどのように建設されていくのかをお届けします。
骨組みから外装・内装が組み上がっていく様子をお楽しみいただけると幸いです。内装に使われているマットレスとフロアマットは撥水性の素材を使用して出産に伴う出血があったとしても手入れがしやすいようにしています。
建設に協力してくださっている、地元の方々に感謝しつつ、妊婦さんが安全な出産を迎えることができるようHANDSはこれからも一緒に活動します。
【Construction of MaternityWaiting House in Kepelam Has Begun (Waiting Room)】
HANDS Papua New Guinea is working to help pregnant women living far from health facilities give birth safely and care for their babies.
One of our efforts is building a “Maternity Waiting House” for mothers in remote areas. Construction has started.
At Kepelam Health Center, community people are building the waiting house .
This time, we’d like to show you how the three rooms where pregnant women stay were built. We hope you enjoy seeing the progress from the frame to the exterior and interior.
The mattresses and floor mats used inside are made of water-resistant material, making them easy to clean in case of bleeding during childbirth.
Thanking to the people from Kepelam who are helping us with the construction voluntarily,HANDS will continue to work together with communities to ensure that pregnant women can give birth safely.
